The Cafe Corner at the intersection of the walkways connecting buildings one and two near the coffee machine is a center of activities and a great place to sit and socialize while sipping coffee or tea.

Forty-five people ate cake and drank coffee one Saturday afternoon at a monthly celebration of members' birthdays. Tables filled with happy revelers added the noise needed for a good time. Larry Breidenbach's pleasant voice and music led the group to sing favorites life Happy Birthday and When Irish Eyes are Smiling.

The fancy swivel top scrabble boards keep a half dozen or more women busy there every week. They are so good at it that they seldom use the dictionary to approve word usage.

The activities at our Cafe Corner spread along the walkways to the Harris Bank, Resource Center and gift shop in one direction and to the Wellness Center and Surround Sound Theater in the other. Members visit them often and stop for coffee and tea breaks to meet others or watch TV.

Travel groups, airplane enthusiasts, ice cream and donut lovers gather at different times to share interests and food. Games of chance lure some to play blackjack or bingo. Crafts, Veterans Day, Cinco de Mayo and national days of honor--Presidents' Day, Fourth of July and Memorial Day--fill the year with fun activities.

There are quiet times when you can sit at the Cafe Corner reading the Wall Street Journal or other papers and magazines. Even then, friends passing stop to chat interrupting your reading time, but that is wonderful.

Just Talk, a long-running gathering of members on Saturday mornings, talk about anything. There are insights into current events and life experiences. Interest has grown so much that Just Talk moved to the Eastlake room nearby.

Our crafts women recently made cupcakes to contribute to the World's Largest Cupcake Tower--an American Cancer Society fundraiser. Other activities keep the Cafe Corner humming like sing-alongs, travel group planning, playing L-R-C or jamming with Jill.

Come to the Corner Cafe for fun and friendship.
